Short but sweet visit
to Granada. On our way there we were fortunate to see the wind mills of Don
Quixote's La Mancha.

We arrived in Granada in the early
evening and went straight to our hotel. After checking in Sharlene and I
visited El Corte
Ingles, the department store directly across the street. We shopped a little,
checked their electronics prices and purchased a few bottles of Spanish wine
for the room.
After
freshening up, we went to dinner in the hotel dining room. I t was a large room
with several other tour groups dining with us. The buffet was enormous with
quite a few items I had never seen nor tasted before and some I will never see
again.
The next
morning we were off to tour the Alhambra. We met our local guides, Pablo and
Antonio, split into two groups and began our walking tour of the 13-centry
Moorish citadel planned by the ruler Al Ahamar. The Moorish fortress is very
plain on the outside but a fantasy of "lace in stone" within the inter walls,
all surrounded by arabesque gardens and fountains. The picture above shows the
central court yard with its beautiful reflecting pool and intricate stone
work. |
